GOVERNANCE

Code of Ethics

Every WAMBA member agrees to practise within this ethical framework and to be accountable to it.

1. Purpose

This code sets the standard of conduct expected of WAMBA members. It exists to protect participants, to support members in their practice, and to sustain public confidence in mindfulness-based teaching.

2. Integrity

Members act honestly and transparently, represent their qualifications accurately, and do not misrepresent their accreditation status or the scope of their practice.

3. Competence

Members practise only within the limits of their training and experience, maintain a personal practice, attend supervision and retreats as required, and continue their professional development.

4. Boundaries

Members maintain clear professional boundaries, avoid dual relationships that could impair judgement, and never exploit the trust or dependency of a participant.

5. Confidentiality

Members keep participant information confidential, other than where disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm or is required by law, and store records securely.

6. Participant safety

Members screen appropriately, are alert to the limits of mindfulness-based approaches, and make clear that participation is not a substitute for necessary medical treatment or psychotherapy. Referral is made where a participant's needs fall outside the member's competence.

7. Advertising and claims

Members describe their courses and outcomes fairly, avoid claims that cannot be substantiated, and use the WAMBA name and logo only as permitted.

8. Complaints

Concerns about a member's conduct may be raised with WAMBA at office@wamba.global. Complaints are handled under the published procedure, and members are required to co-operate with any investigation.
